Award Winning Trees

2007 has been another good year for Daniken Tree Farm. Although the trees suffered through a severe drought we still brought home a great big purple ribbon for the reserve grand champion Christmas Trees at the Illinois State Fair. The following story ran in the Belleville News Democrat.

Joey and David Daniken with daughters Emma (6) and Kate (4).

For the fifth straight year Daniken Tree Farm brought home multiple awards for their Christmas Trees at the Illinois State Fair. A scotch pine entered by David Daniken won first place in its division and was selected as reserve champion of all trees in the contest. Every year David and his wife, Joey, each select a tree to enter into the four categories of Christmas Trees at the fair. Last year Joey got the best of the family bragging rights contest in all four categories. This year David turned the tables by winning three of the four categories versus Joey. Beside the reserve champion scotch pine, other trees winning ribbons included a 2nd and 4th place white pine, 3rd and 4th place fir tree, and a 3rd place spruce. All the trees used in the competition were selected from the same fields customers will use this winter. Daniken Tree Farm is located 5 miles west of Greenville at 781 IL Rt. 140 Pocahontas, IL.
